Blackwood High School Notable Alumni

Dr. Susan Close, graduated in 1984. She is currently the local member for the electorate of Port Adelaide and the Deputy Opposition Leader in State Parliament. She was the previously the SA Education Minister (2015-2018).

Adam Cooney, graduated in 2002. He went on to be the 2008 Brownlow Medal Winner and played football for the Western Bulldogs and Essendon.

Chloe Fox, graduated in 1987. She was a former South Australia MP for the South Australian Bright electorate.

Matt Lambert (Suffa) and Dan Smith (Pressure) attended Blackwood High School and are now best known as the Hilltop Hoods.

Kristian Moliere who graduated in 1988 is now a film producer and produced the films Babadook, Cold Comfort and Wake in Fright.

Rebecca Morse, graduated in 1993. She is a breakfast radio presenter for SAFM and was previously a newsreader for Channel 10. Rebecca was Journalist of the year at the SA Media Awards in 2005.

Brenton Ragless, graduated in 1993 and is now a presenter on Channel 9 News. He has also filled in as host of the national early morning show ‘Today’.

Bianca Reddy, graduated in 2000 and played Netball with the Adelaide Thunderbirds. She also returned to Blackwood High School to teach the Special Interest Netball Program students for 2 years.

Ben Rutten, graduated in 2000 and played Football with the Adelaide Football Club from 2003 to 2014. He earned All-Australian in 2005.

Terence Tao attended Blackwood High School at the age of 7, completing Year 11 and 12 Maths and Physics while studying Year 8 Geography, Biology and Chemistry. He enrolled at Flinders University at the age of 9 while still studying at Blackwood High School. Terence is now a professor at the Department of Mathematics at UCLA in America.
