UNIFORM

INTRODUCTION

The Blackwood High School Uniform Policy is strongly supported by the School Governing Council, parents, staff and students.

All students who enrol at Blackwood High School are expected to proudly wear the school uniform because it:

GIRLS UNIFORM:

Summer Options:

Summer Dress, custom designed in Eucalypt green stripe, worn no shorter than the middle of the knee
Flat heeled black shoes with fully closed top of shoe, closed back, with black laces, OR completely black sneakers with black laces. Canvas shoes do not provide adequate protection and slip on shoes that expose the top of the foot are not appropriate.  
Knitted Brunswick green or Eucalypt green windcheater or Eucalypt green knitted jumper with Terra Red stripe at neck and wrist band, with school logo.
Fitted white shirt with 3/4 sleeve and school logo in white cotton. No other white shirt is acceptable.
Polo shirt in Brunswick green or Eucalypt green, with school logo
Charcoal grey school knee length shorts
Charcoal grey school pants, hemmed.
Short, or knee high plain white socks
 

Winter Options:

Polo shirt in Brunswick green or Eucalypt green, with school logo (no other layers of shirts should be seen beneath these)
School skirt, plain grey custom designed with 2 inverted pleats front and back, worn no shorter than just below the knee.
Unpatterned black tights (no footless tights)
Knitted Brunswick green or Eucalypt green windcheater or Eucalypt green knitted jumper with Terra red stripe at neck and wrist band, with school logo
Flat heeled black shoes with fully closed top of shoe, closed back, with black laces, OR completely black sneakers with black laces. Canvas shoes do not provide adequate protection and slip on shoes that expose the top of the foot are not appropriate.  
Charcoal grey school pants, hemmed etc

Blazers in Terra red, long sleeved, wool, lined, custom designed, with school logo on pocket, may be worn to school or for ceremonial events. It is an optional item.
T-shirt in plain white are only to be worn under windcheater
Plain winter weatherproof jacket in black
Brunswick green and Terra red striped tie is an optional item to be worn with white shirt only (not polo).
   
 
Year 12 Option
Custom made tops (ordered via the school).

Uniform charcoal grey school pants supplied by the school uniform shop, hemmed shoe length (not torn or unhemmed)
Polo shirt in Brunswick green or Eucalypt green with school logo
Knitted Brunswick green or Eucalypt green windcheater or Eucalypt green knitted jumper with Terra red stripe at neck and wrist band, with school logo
Short plain white OR black socks

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

All students are expected to bring and wear a change of suitable clothing. Students must wear the BHS Sports/PE polo shirt or a plain red polo shirt (no logos) during PE lessons.
Students in the specialist netball program are required to have the netball bodysuit and tracksuit.
Student in the specialist football program are required to wear the football top, shorts and socks when representing the school.

SPORT UNIFORM

BHS custom designed sports shirt and black shorts. Sports Uniform is compulsory for all students representing the school in all sporting competitions. These are also highly recommended for P.E. lessons. Tracksuit: Families may choose to purchase the black and grey 2 piece tracksuit. This can be worn for PE lessons or over sports uniforms when travelling to compete for the school.

SPECIFIC ISSUES

The following are issues of concern related to school uniform. They relate to both appearance and safety.



Students out of uniform will not be allowed to take part in any official function, participate as presenters or award recipients at assemblies and graduations or participate as a Year 8 Student Services helper.

 

UNIFORM SUPPLY

All uniform items, (except shoes) must be purchased from the school's uniform shop located on the Blackwood Primary School campus run by Devon. Students may purchase uniform direct from the shop when it is open on
Monday 8.15-9.15am
Wednesday lunchtime 12.45-1.30pm
Friday 8.15-9.15am & 3.00-3.45pm
Students and parents can order uniform items that can be collected at a later date, by using the order forms available at the uniform shop and student services

FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS
The school acknowledges that some families may need assistance in purchasing school uniform. Time payment arrangements may be made by parents/carers after negotiation with the School Counsellors. Further support may be available from the Smith Family, which is an organisation, unrelated to the school or the Department of Education and Children's Services (DECS), which provides financial support for needy families.
