Blackwood High School - Resource Centre
The Hon. D. Hopgood , Minister of Education opened the Resource Centre in its current location at Blackwood High School on the 12th March, 1976. The resource centre provides access to a wide range of information resources in a variety of formats including print, non-print, on-line and networked materials to help meet the learning and recreational needs of our school community. Resource Centre staff work with classes, small groups and individual students to guide them in planning research tasks and in locating and selecting appropriate information from a range of print, electronic and other sources. Through this, staff assist students to develop and extend their information literacy skills and promote independent learning. Opening Times Before school Lunchtime After school Resource Centre Use Teachers use the Resource Centres to work on resource-based learning, reading or study tasks with their classes. With class teacher permission, individual and small groups of students can also use the Resource Centres during lesson times. Senior students are able to use the facilities during their private study periods. All facilities are available for student use during lunchtimes. In addition, facilities for playing chess and Chinese chess are also made available. Library Computer Use Library computers may be used for word processing or research, but if you are not in the library with your class, you must present a computer access pass. During lunch you must show a worksheet from your teacher to legitimise your use of the internet.
The limit for the number of books you may borrow at one time is 12 for middle school and 20 for senior school. Loans may be extended if you still need a book.
